Kitchen remodels are some of the most popular home improvement projects in the country for good reason. In addition to adding value to your property, a good kitchen remodel will also improve looks as well as make storing and preparing food easier. In some situations, kitchen remodels can even make cleaning up less of a chore!

While cooking shows used to be the epitome of a niche market, Americans have fallen in love with the programming on the Food Network. If you watch with the right eyes, however, there?s more to learn from these shows than just recipes. When it comes time to upgrade your kitchen, taking a closer look at the workspaces of your favorite Food Network personalities can give you some great ideas for your own remodel.

Rachel Ray?s Kitchen
For fans of ?30-Minute Meals,? Rachel?s kitchen is probably almost as familiar as your own. Though far from flashy, her layout is perfectly designed for cooking on the go. A little ?cozy? by TV kitchen standards, Rachel?s workspace doesn?t contain many items or appliances that you wouldn?t find in many of her viewers? homes; here good design over shadows gadgetry, and the result is a kitchen that is affordable, functional, and a perfect spot for cooks of all kinds.

Kitchen Stadium
Quite possibly the ?be-all and end-all? of TV kitchens, both the Japanese and US incarnations of kitchen stadium are equipped with anything a chef could ever want. One thing worth noting about kitchen stadium?s design is the incredible amount of open space; when an Iron Chef needs an ingredient, it needs to be acquired quickly (here, running in the kitchen is commonplace, though still not without its accidents). Most homeowners would be hard pressed to duplicate the kind of kitchen on this show, but the compact island-style workspace is certainly a keeper.

Alton Brown?s Kitchen
Anyone who?s ever watched Good Eats knows that Alton deals as much with the science of cooking as he does with recipes. Alton?s kitchen is full of devices of all sorts (some of which are homemade), but he?s very adamant about avoiding ?uni-taskers.? An Alton Brown kitchen is spacious, extremely well stocked, and has incredible amounts of storage space. To duplicate the storage system from Good Eats, it might even be necessary to do a basement remodel, too!

Outdoor Kitchens with Bobby Flay
As Food Network?s barbecue king, Bobby Flay is the go-to-guy when it comes to grilling. Though Mr. Flay?s preference of gas grills might be a point of contention for some barbecue enthusiasts, there?s no doubt that an outdoor kitchen equipped with anything else will increase clean-up and preparation significantly. If you?re a spur-of the-moment griller or you find the idea of having a grilled side dish appealing, gas is definitely the way to go. For the perfect Bobby Flay workspace, make sure that you have enough room to perform; by simply adding some counter space, some decent lighting, and a little bit of storage, you can easily transform a solitary grill into a functional outdoor kitchen!
